Sensibilisation
One of the missions of the Stella Mare platform of University of Corsica, is to raise public awareness of the marine and coastal environment. This approach carried out in collaboration with U Marinu Association (CPIE Bastia – Golo – Mediterranean) has several goals:
Raise awareness of environmental protection issues among the public and youth.
Enable school children to be in contact with science and perhaps inspire vocational choices.
Pedagogical itinerary:
Stella Mare platform of University of Corsica has been designed in such a way as to be able to offer to its visitors an educational path. This route is structured around the following points:
Science in action:
Visitors can discover the aquariums and laboratories, as well as the work of the researchers in the different basins. This path has been designed to allow visitors to get as close as possible to the scientific activities without interfering with them, particularly from a health point of view.
Information signs
A series of panels arranged around the platform and in the laboratories allow visitors to learn more about the species studied at Stella Mare, but also about biodiversity and the preservation of Mediterranean species.
Educational videos
At different stages of the tour, visitors will meet Professor Sapientone who will explain to them, in the Corsican language, the ins and outs of the research conducted at Stella Mare, the breeding methods of marine species and the dangers threatening them.
Guided tour
The educational tour is guided by two engineers working on the platform. Their role is to share with visitors their expertise and answer to questions regarding ongoing projects at Stella Mare
Events
Throughout the year, the Stella Mare platform team organises and participates in various outreach and awareness events.
